. >> reporter: she was about to graduate from college. the san francisco district attorney charged the 23-year-old woman with driving under the influence, hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter. those are just some of the six charges she's facing after police say she drove her car into a group of people last week at the twin peaks vista point in san francisco. the accident killed a 56-year-old woman visiting from china and injured two others. police say the injuries knocked the three pedestrians 30 feet down a hillside. while the victim's family did not appear in court, the suspect's relatives came out to the hearing. their attorney did speak saying gina is praying for the victims. >> gina and the entire family is destroyed by what happened. and i think it's fair to say that their main concern is for the victims' family. >> reporter: the district attorney says he will prosecute this case aggressively. he said this is another example of why people should not drink and drive. >> we are very concerned that the use of alcohol and driving especially during the holiday season when there are so man

radar is showing dry conditions throughout the bay area. nearly half a foot of rainfall in san francisco and double that in the north bay. sfo shows the wettest month of the year. an inch of rain yesterday. this is san leandro earlier this morning where we had heavy showers until 8:00 or 9:00 on the peninsula. the rain didn't let up. a lot of it causes ponding on the roads and makes travel tough out there. travel tough up toward lake tahoe but man, is the skiing good! since friday, 60 to 80" of new snowfall with two or four inches of new snow likely this evening. winter storm warning continues. we'll talk about the next rain chance and actually a prolonged dry stretch. that's coming up in a few short minutes. >> thank you. you can track the storm anytime with our live high-def doppler radar. it's at cbssf.com/weather. >>> the bay area is already at a high risk for landslides. i'll tell you what our recent rainfall means for the overall landslide danger just ahead. >> outrage after a newspaper maps out gun owners and their addresses. reaction tonight from a bay area district attorney. >>

valley fog but look at that. isn't that a gorgeous shot? you can see the embarcadero in san francisco. so it is a little cool outside even though we have a nice dry break coming throughout the day today. once again no need for any umbrellas. but a jacket probably a good idea. 41 right now in concord, 45 in oakland, 48 degrees in san francisco. so it's because of this high pressure that is what's keeping us so dry for the next 24 hours or so. but we are watching this low and that's going to bring us some rain. looks like probably friday afternoon-ish is when we're probably going to get hit with some wet weather. in the meantime this afternoon's highs a lot of low to mid-50s across the bay area. and yeah, so not going to warm up much by later on this afternoon and then a chance of rain returns as soon as tomorrow. so we'll show you that seven- day forecast coming up. in the meantime, traffic-wise, we have a new situation developing on the great highway. we just got word from the police department that the southbound great highway is shut down between lincoln way and sloat boulevard. with al

that separated dozens of homes from the san francisco-quito creek are holding up. the creek or float on sunday night causing mandatory evacuations for seven homes. at least one home was damaged to the point of being uninhabitable. no further work has been scheduled. but the city continues to keep a close eye on the levee. >> all the rain over christmas-a down the southbound side of the upper great highway from lincoln avenue to slow boulevard. a spokesperson at the centers is the department of public works say that the rose flood because the drains cannot handle all the water, especially during a powerful storm. drivers are being forced to take the lower great highway route. the northbound side is still open. officials say that highway close about 60 times a year. it is not known when the southbound side will reopen. >> the storm also brought down a massive tree in the east bay. the one fell right on the footsteps of the delta and chi fraternity house on channing way in berkeley. however when the tree fell a loosen the soil of a neighboring treat the had terrible for safety reasons. >> santa r
